summer reading
Over the summer for English, i read two books by the author Nicholas Sparks. The first book of his i read this summer was called A Walk to Remember. This was such a touching story about two high school students who fell in love when yet... they were both very different. The boy was named Landon... he had the label "popular" written all over him. Lots of friends, football player, girlfriends ect. The girls name was Jamie... she had the nerd personality, very religious (her father was the priest at the local church) A student and not very social...But when they met, he started falling for her, and she told him not to fall in love with her....but in the end he did... and there was a reason she told him such a thing. She ended up having leukemia and was shortly going to die. When Landon found out, he completely changed. He didn't care what anyone thought of him and was by Jamie's side the whole time. It was such an original story, because the "popular boy" fell for the "nerd" and that normally never happens in books or movies. This made me think of how lucky we are to be living, even if we are or not "popular" or "perfect." Truly an amazing story! The second book was called The Notebook. That was also another love story, but what can i say!? again it was basically the same as A Walk to Remember but this time the guy wasn't "rich" instead of being a nerd and the girl was "rich" instead of being "popular." Their names were Ali and Noah. And I'm sure those names sound familiar if you have read this book. once Ali and Noah reached the summer time, Ali went to her summer home, in the town that Noah lived. By the end of the summer after they had met, they fell in love with each other, and when Ali got the shocking news that she was to return home early before collage started, she had one decision ant that was to end it with Noah. Noah had sent her letters trying to make it work, but Alis mom hid the letters from her and she shortly fell in love with a army man. After that they got engaged and was ready to live a life together. Ali soon decided that she had one more thing to do before getting married. And that was to return to her summer home and visit Noah one last time, (and remember they haven't seen each other for about 4 years now) once she saw Noah again, she fell in love with him again, just like she had that one summer, and she soon had to decided between Noah or the other guy. She of course chooses Noah and at the beginning and end of the book Noah was reading "the notebook" to another patient in the hospital housing, who had Alzheimer's, and that ended up being Ali he was reading to. That book showed me that i need to take in every moment, and not rush through anything! That was also a truly great story!!!
